About Me

I have an MPhil in Government and Public Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and lived in Hong Kong for five years in the 1990s. I travel back there every year. I’m the author of Good Chinese Wife: A Love Affair With China Gone Wrong (Sourcebooks, 2014) and the co-editor of Hong Kong Noir (Akashic Books, 2018). I write about Hong Kong history, politics, film, art, and culture for a number of publications in Hong Kong and the United States.
