About Me

I received my PhD in Early Modern Book History from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2021. My thesis examined the creation and use of parish libraries in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and analysed surviving marks of readership within parish library books in order to understand how people read and interpreted these texts.

More generally, my research interests centre on the history of libraries, the history of the book and reading, the Tudor and Stuart royal courts, women in power in the medieval and early modern periods, and Reformation and religious history.
