About Me

I am a historian and art historian. I received my PhD from the University of Hamburg and currently I am Senior Research Fellow at the Department of History at the University of Basel (Switzerland).
My research concentrates on the cultural history of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, especially on the perception of change in the High Middle Ages, on the political use of images and questions of visibility, on mediality, on the history of late medieval cities and on questions on temporality and space-time relations.
I am interested in the tools, challenges, and possibilities of (public) historical writing in the digital age.
My second book is about «Stories of Change – Changing Stories Konzeptualisierung und Narrativierung von Veränderung im Hochmittelalter».
