- About Me
Lucy Betteridge-Dyson is a historian, author, and broadcaster with a passion for uncovering lesser-known aspects of warfare, particularly the role of animals in conflict.
She has worked with major networks including Channel 4, Global Radio, BBC, National Geographic, and PBS and appeared on countless podcasts and live streams. In addition to appearing as a historical expert on these platforms, Lucy co-presented the Channel 4 series ‘48 Hours to Victory’ alongside Dermot O’Leary and Arthur Williams, and the BBC Sounds podcast ‘Obsessed With…SAS Rogue Heroes’.
With a background in engineering, Lucy is a proponent of inter-disciplinary study, which she believes can bring fresh perspectives to our understanding of history. She currently works as a researcher for vintage aviation specialists Retrotec & Aero Vintage and serves as an ambassador for the U.K. charity, The People’s Mosquito.
Her published research combines animal studies and military history and includes ‘The Equine Learning Curve: Horses and Mules in British Army Transport Services During the First World War‘, which highlights the crucial contribution of animals in military logistics. Whilst her forthcoming book on the Third Arakan Campaign in Burma during the Second World War, is due for release in 2025 with Osprey Publishing.
