About Me

Gerda Zinner serves as the academic advisor for the division of the humanities at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Arts and Sciences. She holds an MA in History from Auburn University where she wrote on the history of queer student organizations and their struggle for institutional recognition in the state of Alabama. Some of her other interests include queer history in general, intersectionality, legal history, cultural politics of the United States since World War II, and historical commemoration. She is currently working on a research project examining the intersections of institutional policy, law, and queer student support. In addition to advising and research, Gerda also teaches in the UTC Department of History and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program.
