About Me

Barbara C. Allen, Ph.D. (2001), Indiana University Bloomington, is Associate Professor of History at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. She is the author of Alexander Shlyapnikov, 1885-1937: Life of an Old Bolshevik, published in cloth edition by Brill in Leiden, The Netherlands, 2015, and in paperback by Haymarket Books in Chicago, 2016. Her edited book of translations, Leaflets of the Russian Revolution: Socialist Organizing in 1917, will be published by Haymarket Books in Chicago in paper, cloth, and as an e-book on November 6, 2018. She has published articles in Canadian-American Slavic Studies, Cahiers du Monde Russe, Jahrbücher für Geschichte Osteuropas, The Soviet and Post-Soviet Review, Revolutionary Russia, Jahrbuch für Forschungen zur Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung, The NEP Era: Soviet Russia, 1921-1928, and the International Newsletter of Communist Studies. She is currently editing and translating a collection of documents of the Workers’ Opposition, which is under contract with Brill. Her research includes Workers’ Opposition groups in Samara and Ukraine.
