Zehra Betül Atasoy is a visiting scholar at Kadir Has University, Faculty of Art and Design. She holds a Ph.D. in the Urban Environment-History specialization from a dual degree program of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and Rutgers University-Newark. Her research focuses on the quotidian urban practices of women from various social strata in early Republican Istanbul and aims to recover their overlooked stories through different reformation efforts in fragmented urban spaces.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Istanbul Technical University, where she also got her master’s degree in History of Architecture. Besides, she worked as an editor for Arkitera Architecture Center and other architectural platforms between 2011 and 2014. Atasoy also worked as a teaching assistant at NJIT-Hillier College of Art and Design from 2014 to 2018. She was a fellow at the Istanbul Studies Center for the academic year of 2018-2019.
