About Me

I am a Professor of German Studies with a focus on Digital Humanities, and have been working on egodocuments (mostly letters) for 20 years. My initial research focus was on German intellectuals around 1800. I am currently working on a project on writing strategies and emotionality in the context of French-German wars from the 18th to the 20th century. I develop and implement digital methods that make archive material available in high quality for scholarly work (OCR, edition, annotation, Open Access, ML-based methods of analysis).

My current interests also include the environmental footprint of research activities.
