Mahel Hamroun is a historian of medieval Europe with a particular interest in comparative histories of guilt and culpability. Her current research interrogates the boundaries between legal and religious notions of guilt in the medieval North. She also works on the construction of historical narratives of the past, histories of archives, and on modern appropriations of the Middle Ages.
