Mahel Hamroun is a doctoral candidate in History and Medieval Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Her dissertation research interrogates the boundaries between legal and religious notions of guilt in the medieval North. She also works on the construction of historical narratives of the past, and on modern appropriations of the Middle Ages.
