- About Me
I am a historian of the ancient Mediterranean. My current research focuses on how ancient Greek federal institutions survived and transformed after the Greek mainland became part of the Roman Empire. I therefore think a lot about federalism, both in the ancient and modern worlds.
Previous publications have addressed individuals displaced within the ancient Mediterranean and connections between scholarship about the ancient world and early anthropology.
I am also engaged in pedagogical projects and publications, and I am currently co-chair of the Committee on Teaching for the Association of Ancient Historians.
