Violet Soen is Associate Professor of Early Modern History at KU Leuven. She wrote two award-winning monographs on the Inquisition and the Revolt in sixteenth-century the Low Countries. Her fields of expertise include questions of religious war and peace, inquisition and reconciliation, church-state relationships and the history of the Catholic and Protestant Reformations between 1500 and 1800. Her wide-ranging research interests also embrace book history, history of the universities and elite studies.
