About Me

I received my Masters degrees at the University of Szeged, Hungary, in 2006 (History and English, with a specialisation in Irish Studies). I went on to do my PhD at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where I researched Irish perceptions of Central Europe before 1945, focusing on borders and identities in a transnational context. Currently I am investigating the history of humour in the twentieth century and have an ongoing fascination (or obsession…?) with food history.

Recent Publications

My manuscript entitled Imagining Ireland abroad, 1904-1945, was published in 2021 (Palgrave Macmillan).
