About Me

I am interested in the trade in slaves from the Black Sea into the Mediterranean during the thirteenth through fifteenth centuries. I work mainly with sources in Latin and Arabic produced in the major slave markets of Genoa, Venice, and Cairo. My book on this topic, That Most Precious Merchandise: The Mediterranean Trade in Black Sea Slaves, 1260-1500 is forthcoming in fall 2019.
