My research examines the construction of fictional places and the abstraction of foreign lands in the ancient Near East. I also work on demons and monsters in the ancient Near East, which was the focus of my dissertation, and the role of magic and ritual in Akkadian and Sumerian texts, particularly the broader context of exorcism texts.
