About Me

I am currently completing a book on ‘Death in early modern Venice’, which explores mortality, funerary ritual, cemeteries and the material culture of death. Areas of specialist expertise include death registration and early resuscitation practices. I am interested in the lived experience of early modern religion, especially lay devotion, and I have published on the ‘Catholic life cycle’. More broadly, I am interested in mobility, space and materiality in early modern cities.
