About Me

Dr Caroline Sharples is Senior Lecturer in Modern European History at the University of Roehampton, UK.  She specialises in twentieth century Germany history, specifically the history of Nazi Germany and representations of the Holocaust.  She is the author of West Germans and the Nazi Legacy (Routledge, 2012), Postwar Germany and the Holocaust (Bloomsbury, 2016) and co-editor, with Olaf Jensen, of Britain and the Holocaust; Remembering and Representing War and Genocide (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013).  She is currently working on a major study of ‘dead Nazis’: perpetrator burials and commemorative practice before, during and after the Third Reich.  She is also writing a monograph on the death of Adolf Hitler.
