Marília Corrêa is a Weiser Emerging Democracies Postdoctoral Fellow for 2019-21. She completed her Ph.D. in history at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2019. Her current research examines the experiences of officers and soldiers who were expelled from the armed forces and persecuted during Brazil’s military dictatorship (1964-1985). Focusing on the life trajectories of these men during military rule and after redemocratization, she examines how their cases can expand our understanding of the social and cultural reach of the dictatorship.
