About Me

I have a PhD in sixteenth century English and Dutch literature and have written the manuscript ‘Shaping Spanishness. Literary Hispanophobia and Hispanophilia in England and the Netherlands c.1554-1621’, which can be consulted here https://dare.uva.nl/id/1add2651-2ca1-4372-843f-f56ee0f21c0f

Currently, I am working as a communication advisor for the faculty of humanities at Utrecht University, focusing on communication of research to external stakeholders and the wider public. Most importantly, I try to bridge the gap between academia and the rest of the world, enabling impact of research in various ways. Personally, I have communicated my own research by video’s, lectures and theatre. I also have experience in editorial work and creating exhibitions for researchers, so if interested in this type of work and the topic of Spain, England and the Netherlands in sixteenth century literature, please do not refrain to e-mail me!

Other specific research interests are gender, gender ambiguity, travel literature, translation studies, imagology, ‘Other’  and representations of people who did not fit to the norm in general.
