About Me

I am an associate professor of African American and 20th century U.S. history. My scholarship focuses on the Black Power and Civil Rights movements, especially their intersection with the Chicano movement. My first book is entitled, To March for Others: The Black Freedom Struggle and the United Farm Workers (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2013). I have also published in the Journal of African American History, the Journal of Civil and Human Rights, the Washington Post, and Truthout.
