About Me

I earned my doctorate in Archaeology for my research into medieval identity development in the North Atlantic. Since then I have become  the Principle Investigator and Content Creator for the Viking Coloring Book Project [VCBP], which began in January 2016. I took my personal desire for a historically accurate early medieval coloring book and turned it into a live crowdfunding campaign. This campaign did surprisingly well- reaching goal in 3 days and ultimately more than doubling by the end of the deadline. I could have left well enough alone after creating the first coloring book and fulfilling my Backer Reward obligations. However, unlike my adult publications, the Viking Coloring Book Project awards me opportunities to genuinely help medieval studies as an independent scholar. My project has provided access for students of all ages and abilities to learn more about the early medieval world.

Recent Publications

My first book is Viking Nations, available from Pen and Swords Books.

My second book is The Viking Coloring Book, available from the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

I am currently working on a second coloring book, focused on early medieval Norse Mythology.
