About Me

I am a historian of race, slavery, and emancipation in the United States and Atlantic World. I am an assistant professor of history at California State University, Bakersfield. I received my PhD from the University of Michigan. My research explores the role African American women and diasporic families played in the settlement of colonial and early republic Liberia.
