About Me

I’m a historian in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My current project is a book about foreign policy reporters in Washington in the 1940s and 1950s and the blurred social-professional boundaries that created the news media echo chamber.

My previous book was a political biography of the Washington power broker, Bob Strauss, The Whole Damn Deal: Robert Strauss and the Art of Politics.

I hold a PhD in history from Princeton University, a masters from the Columbia Journalism School, and a bachelors in history from Stanford University.
