About Me

I am a historian of the carceral state in the twentieth century American South. I am interested in the agricultural, cultural, economic, and political experiences of convict labor. My current work examines the convict leasing systems connections to mass incarceration in Alabama. I have an M.A. in History from Mississippi State. I currently work for the Kentucky Historical Society as a NEH funded Research Associate with the Civil War Governors Society.
