About Me

I am a scholar of French empire in Asia, particularly the nineteenth-century quasi-imperial presence in China. My research interests include affect, gender, race, circulations of knowledge and material objects, and the construction of difference and likeness in imperial interactions. I enjoy bringing transnational, global axes of inquiry into my courses on European and Chinese history.
