Frances is a Ph.D candidate in History at the College of William & Mary. She graduated with first-class honors in History from the University of Glasgow in 2015, and earned an M.A. from the College of William & Mary in 2017. Her research focuses on the impact of the Haitian Revolution in the Atlantic world, with particular interests in migration, legal history, and spatial history. Frances’s dissertation combines these interests by examining the experiences of enslaved people brought to the United States by enslavers fleeing the Haitian Revolution between 1791 and 1850.
