About Me

An American historian, Ramona specializes in 20th century American history, civil rights and race relations, specifically its African American and Mexican American dimensions. Her research focuses on how the African American and Mexican American communities worked to desegregate the state of Texas.

Through her presentations and writings, Ramona explores and critically analyzes current affairs from a historical and bicultural perspective, informing readers how contemporary issues and events relate to and/or affect the African American and Latino American communities. Ramona also hosts a blog that highlights, celebrates and promotes the history, people, culture, organizations, and events of these two communities.

Ramona is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. A native of Brownwood, Texas, she currently resides in Atlanta with her husband Terreon Gully and their princess Chase, an eleven-year-old Pomeranian.
