- About Me
My work was recognized three times in the last ten years (2008, 2012 and 2017) with national awards from the Oral History Association, the national organization for oral historians in the United States. I have been involved in oral history projects large and small on the subjects of textile workers, shoe making, brick making, academic institution histories, and projects involving the documentation of the lives and careers of former Senators (Ed Muskie and George Mitchell).
I currently oversee the Office of Oral History at the University of South Carolina, promoting the use of oral history in coursework and community preservation, as well as being deeply immersed in digitizing analog sound recordings (audio cassettes) for modern access.
Outside of work, I often serve as an oral history humanities scholar, grant evaluator, grant partner, and workshop leader.
