About Me

I am a research active scholar in the history of the United States, with a specialism in the history of race relations and racial violence, considered from an interdisciplinary perspective. My PhD considered the role of lynching during the era of slavery, and the intersections of race and manhood in the lives of white men in the American South. My recent research has included projects on non-traditional forms of slavery, as well as the representation of slavery in twentieth and twenty-first century American cinema.
