- About Me
Sahra Ahmed Koshin is a Somali researcher, humanitarian practitioner, and PhD Candidate at the Universities of Nairobi and Copenhagen. She specialises in gender, humanitarian policy, displacement, localisation, diaspora studies, and feminist political economy in Somalia and the Horn of Africa. She currently directs a women-led humanitarian organisation in Somalia and has led and contributed to research and policy initiatives on Women, Peace and Security, internal displacement, higher education and anti-FGM policy, diaspora citizenship, and locally led humanitarian action. Her work engages with questions of gender justice, social policy, governance, and transnational belonging in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
Somali Gender Hub (SGH) is a women-led research, learning and advocacy organisation advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in Somalia. Founded in 2018, SGH works at the intersection of research, evidence, policy and practice, with a focus on Women, Peace and Security, women in higher education and research, nationality rights, humanitarian action, women’s leadership, social policy, and women’s economic empowerment. Through applied research, policy advocacy, capacity strengthening, mentorship and knowledge exchange, SGH creates spaces for Somali women to produce knowledge, strengthen their leadership, influence policy and contribute to more equitable and peaceful communities.
