About Me

I am an interdisciplinary archaeologist and a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles where I specialize in Indigenous material and sensorial cultures. Specifically, my research examines the making and experiencing of sacredness at the heart of the Inca Empire from imperial Inca times through the early modern period when the Andes became enmeshed in the transatlantic world. I conduct my archaeological work by working in the field, studying collections in museums and storage facilities, reading and transcribing ethnohistoric documents in archives, and consulting early photographs in private collections and public repositories.

My research projects have been supported by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the “la Caixa” Foundation, the John Carter Brown Library, the Huntington, the Society for Architectural Historians, the Vernacular Architecture Forum, and the Archaeological Institute of America, among others.
