About Me

Gloria Williams Sander is a curator at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California. She oversees the collection of European Paintings before 1800, works on paper, photography and the Galka Scheyer-Blue Four Archives. The museum’s print collections, ranging from Rembrandt etchings to editions produced at the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, have inspired many of the exhibits she organized. Recent exhibitions, including I Saw It: Francisco de Goya, Printmaker (2024), presented the opportunity for visitors and print specialists alike to experience all four of the Spanish artist’s etched series, along with special impressions and bound volumes of prints. For Unseen Picasso (2021) she selected etchings, lithographs and linocuts whose singular characteristics, specific to the exhibited impressions, defined them as rare or unique and therefore infrequently seen in exhibition or publication. For The Collectible Moment: Photography in the Norton Simon Collection (2006) she traced the significant history of the Los Angeles photography community in the 1960s – 1970s.
