- About Me
I specialize in the socio-cultural history of modern Italy and in particular in the history of nationalism in its intersections with gender and race. I have studied the cultural construction of ideas of Italy and Italian national identity in statistical surveys and censuses and in the discourse of national character from the time of the struggle for national independence to the present. In my most recent work I focused on the history of racism and antiracism and on the construction of the Italian people as “white” from fascism to the democratic Republic.
