About Me

Deniz HASIRCI is a Professor at Izmir University of Economics, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and head of the Graduate Design Studies at IUE. She was born in Reading-England and received her Ph.D. degree from Bilkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. She worked professionally in design firms and Intema Eczacıbaşı. A Fulbright visiting scholar at NCSU, she worked with Prof. Henry Sanoff on participatory desgn projects. She is co-coordinator of the DATUMM_Documenting and Archiving Turkish Modern Furniture and “Reading History of Furniture and Interior Architecture in Turkey through Oral History Method” projects.

She is a founding member of the Docomomo_Tr Interior Design Committee and TAPLAK Design and Planning Accrediting Association. She is a member of Fulbright Alumni, Chamber of Interior Architects-Turkey, Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA), 4T Design History Society, Bilkent University Alumni, TED Ankara College Alumni, and Docomomo International Specialization Committee (ISC-ID).
