About Me

Ana Artiaga is an associate professor of US history and civilization at Université Paris 8 in Paris, France. Her research focuses on the ethnic claims of white Catholic Americans from the 1970s onwards, the political weight of “white ethnics”  in the second half of the 20th century, and the political history of Boston.

Her doctoral thesis focused on client politics as a vehicle for the political incorporation of the various ethno-racial groups making up the population of Boston and Chicago between 1933 and 1983. Her main research themes are the history of race relations and white identity in the United States, and the relationship between clientelism and identity politics in urban settings.
