About Me

I am currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford. My research is focused on sexual violence against women in Old Norse literature, and my thesis debunks two conflicting myths about the topic: firstly, the popular perception of Vikings as rapists and pillagers, and secondly the scholarly view that sexual violence is largely absent from Old Norse texts. By delving into the complexities and interstices of these texts and examining the emotions of women, I am repositioning sexual violence as a pervasive yet often somewhat latent theme in the Old Norse corpus.
