About Me

Sarah Whitt (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma) is an assistant professor at UC Irvine where she researches, teaches, and writes about Indigenous histories. Her forthcoming book Bad Medicine examines Indigenous experiences of institutionalization in settler facilities in the Progressive Era United States. Her research has been supported by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Ford Foundation, and American Council of Learned Societies, among other organizations. Her research has been published in the Western Historical Quarterly, Disability Studies Quarterly, and American Indian Culture and Research Journal, as well as other venues.
