About Me

As a Senior Research Fellow, my scholarship examines the intersectional dynamics shaping women’s experiences and identity construction in India, emphasising political engagement, religious interpretations, and social practices, within the developmental contexts. I investigate how gender-power relations in private spheres influence public engagements across diverse communities, exploring how women navigate their identities and agency within intersectional sociopolitical structures.

Employing post-colonial grounded ethnography in select Rajasthani constituencies, I conduct qualitative assessments of private and public sphere factors to analyze women’s agency and institutional engagement. This approach facilitates a nuanced exploration of lived experiences, transcending cultural determinism, situational totalitarianism and testifying identity theories. My work contributes to gendered representational deprivation and marginalization at national and regional levels. By analyzing multi-level institutional variations, I elucidate the constructive discursive gendered institutionalism in validating social relations theory which in turn identifies the factors shaping women’s accessibility, presence, and influence in the public sphere.
