About Me

I am a leading expert on the history of the Declaration of Independence based in the Philadelphia area. I received my Ph.D. and M.A. in History from William & Mary and my B.A. in History from Johns Hopkins University. My dissertation, “When the Declaration of Independence was News,” explores the dissemination of the Declaration around the Atlantic world in 1776. Before graduate school, I was the research manager of the Declaration Resources Project at Harvard University.
