Annika Stendebach is a doctoral researcher at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture, University of Giessen, Germany. Her PhD project entitled ‘Not Our Place?’ Irish Youth and Social Spaces in Transition, ca. 1958 – 1983 focuses on how the spatial dimension of growing up in Ireland at that time and social change correlate by conduction walking interviews with contemporary witnesses.
Previously she studied at the University of Mainz, Germany, and the National University of Ireland, Galway. Annika was awarded a Master of Education for comparing the media portrayal of the ‘Teddy Boys’ in Ireland and their German counterpart the ‘Halbstarke’ in her thesis entitled Rock’n’Roll Rebels.
