- About Me
I specialize in premodern Japanese literature and visual culture, with expertise in travel writing, poetry, calligraphy, text-image interaction, and book history. In my first book project, I am investigating descriptions of travel to famous places in the poetic canon by aristocratic and warrior elites of fourteenth-century Japan. My teaching interests extend to the ways in which historical themes surface in contemporary popular culture.
