About Me

My work focuses on understanding natural and cultural landscapes and what they mean to the people who interact with these places. This comes from a lifelong love of both history and the environment. As a public historian, I strive to engage the public with the past around them through exhibits, interactive programs, and digital history projects.

I am the Education Coordinator at the Westmoreland County Historical Society and Historic Hanna’s Town in Pennsylvania, where I coordinate field trips, educational programs, volunteers, and social media.

I am a recent graduate of West Virginia University’s Public History MA and Cultural Resource Management Certificate programs. I received my BA in history from Saint Vincent College, where I am now an instructor of public history courses.

My local history research looks primarily at Pennsylvania and West Virginia, along with surrounding states and Washington, D.C. I have worked as an educator at the Carnegie Museum’s Powdermill Nature Reserve for seven years and have studied the history of the property’s development and scientific achievements. I have had the opportunity to curate an exhibit on Rachel Carson at the McCarl Coverlet Gallery and an exhibit on the history of glassmaking in West Virginia at the Watts Museum of WVU. Most recently, I have researched the history of Morgantown, West Virginia’s Sunnyside neighborhood, looking at how it has transitioned from a working class neighborhood to a student center that is currently undergoing revitalization.

I also recently served as an AmeriCorps member with Clio, a nonprofit mobile app and website that connects the public to historic sites and museums. Through my AmeriCorps service, I wrote and revised historical entries for Clio, while also working on social media, educational presentations, grant writing, and graphic design.

Feel free to reach out if I can help you in any way!
