About Me

Dominique Townsend is a scholar of Tibetan Buddhism and culture. She teaches Buddhist Studies at Bard College, in the Hudson Valley of New York. Her research focuses on religion, cultural production, and aesthetics, with a focus on the mutually constitutive relationship between the “religious” and the “secular.” Townsend is also a poet (The Weather & Our Tempers, Brooklyn Arts Press) and the author of a children’s book about Buddhist philosophy (Shantideva, Wisdom Publications).
